Passion Fruit Squash recipe using home grown fruits#No preservatives#Home made


                                                         Passion fruit Squash   


Passion fruit is a nostalgic typical nadan fruit available in Kerala.Its a climber like plant which produces green apple like fruits which became yellow when its ripe.It is fully loaded with pulpy yet juicy yellowish juice with its seeds as you can see in the concentrate,black seeds.Normally people or kids used to have this with little sugar.
Do you know how to eat or consume this fruit.I'll tell you,Simply cut the top portion of this fruit like a round disc.Add 1/2 - 1 Tsp sugar into that pulp with a spoon.Mix it and have it along with its seeds.YYYUUUmmmm!!!!!It tastes so good..


This time during my vacation I was already planned to make this squash,as i knew passion fruit is available in my aunt's house.So i collected 5-10 passion fruits(You can store in fridge)and make it together,because we wont get enough ripe fruits in a single day.


Things needed

1.Passion fruit    8-10
2.Sugar - 1to 1.5 cups(depends on sour taste of fruit)
3.Water - 2 cups
4.Salt - 1 pinch
5.Lime juice - 2 Tb sp


Method 1
  1. Prepare sugar syrup with sugar,water and lime juice.(No thread like consistency).When sugar melts completely,strain it to remove sugar debris.Keep this aside for cooling.When scooping is done,simply pulse it in a mixer or blender for a second(just 1 pulse) and seive the seeds using a seiver if you don't like seeds.
  2. After washing passion fruits, Simply scoop out the fruit pulp and keep it in a bowl.
  3. When scooping is done,simply pulse it in a mixer or blender and seive the seeds using a seiver if you dont like it or avoid that seiving step,if you like seeds in your juice.
  4. When sugar syrup cools completely,Mix sugar syrup with pulsed passion fruit pulp gently.
  5. Check the sugar and sour taste.If its more sour,add more sugar syrup and make up the taste accordingly.
  6. Serve 1/3 rd of a glass with squash and dilute it with water.
  7. Enjoy your home made juice with guests and loved ones.
Method 2


In second method,everything is similar to method 1 except boil that concentrated fruit pulp and then pulse it after cooling.

So by this method,you can store this squash for 3- 4 weeks in refrigerator in addition to  lime juice preservation
