Strawberry Jam recipe#Purely home made jam recipe with video




Jams are always sweet and delicious for any french toast or a simple sandwich.Simply blending,,heating and storing. You can mix up berries and prepare mixed fruit jam using this same method.Lets see whats happening.

Cooking Time : 35 Minutes


Ingredients needed

1.Strawberry  - 1/2 Kg
2.Sugar  - 1 cup + 1 Tb sp
3.Fresh Lemon juice - 1 Tb sp


Method of preparation

1.Soak and clean strawberries in vinegar,salt and baking soda mixture for 30 minutes.
2.Clean and remove its leaf using a straw.
3.Blend it without adding any water and a make a puree.
4.Strain it to another non stick pan and remove its seeds and debris.
5.Add 1 Tb sp fresh lime juice,1/2 Tsp salt and 1/2 cup sugar initially and stir gently and continuously in medium flame.
6.Check the sugar level and add 1/2 cup sugar extra for sweetness as strawberry is sour and sweet in taste.
7.Stir continuously and check the sugar level and i have added extra 1 Tb sp Sugar too.
8.After stirring for 30 minutes, strawberry puree gets thickened after loosing all water content.
9.Check the consistency in a steel plate.If its not flowing and sticking to the plate,Jam reaches its right consistency or else stir some more time.Here it needs some time to attain the right thickness.So continue stirring.
10.After 5 minutes of stirring in low flame,check the consistency and it was perfect.
11.Allow the jam to cool down and store it in a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator for 1 month.
12.Use for Jam sandwitches in Kid's lunch box or break fast ideas.

  • Its ideal for kids who always ask syrup or sugar for having food.
  • My kid likes it and have this with bread,dosa and chapathi.
  • Quantity of sugar in this jam is your wish.
  • Also we are adding lime juice,which acts as preservative and keeps the jam safe from contamination.
  • But remember always use a clean dry spoon or knife and use within 1 month,since we are not adding extra chemicals...
  • Use clean sterilized glass jars for storing.(sterilize the glass jars[heat resistant jars like mason jars]in hot boiled  water for 15 minutes).keep it outside for self drying.Clean the lids in hot soapy water and self dry it.Clean the rim too.
