Varutharacha Chicken Curry/Chicken curry in (roast & grind) coconut paste Recipe

                                                      Chicken Curry


Chicken is most of us all time favourite.Lots of experiments are doing in chicken as different varieties of dishes with new taste and flavor. Chicken with fried coconut/Varutharacha kozhi curry is many of us especially we mallus favourite.This makes a wonderful combo for any rice varieties,roties(chappathi n paratha,porotta),rice palappams etc etc




                                                      Chicken Curry Recipe

 Ingredients needed for Chicken curry


1.Chicken                              - 1 kg
2.Onion                                 - 2
3.Tomato                               - 1
4.Ginger - Garlic paste           - 1 Tb sp
5.Green chillies                       - 2
6.Chicken Masala                   - 2 Tb sp
7.Chilli powder                       - 1 Ts sp
8.Turmeric powder                 - 1/2 Tsp
9.Grated coconut                    - 1 cup
10.Garam masala                    - 1/2 Tsp
11.Salt                                   - to taste

Steps for preparing Chicken curry
1.Marinate chicken with all masalas and salt.Keep it in refrigerator.


2.Make a good gravy by sauting Ginger - Garlic paste,Green chillies and Onion  in oil.

3.Add  tomato paste  to the sauted gravy.When the raw smell of tomato goes,add marinated chicken pieces.Mix everything and add 1/2 Tsp Garam masala.Cover it and  cook for 5 minutes in medium flame.By that time water will ooze out from chicken.Add 1.5 cups of water and cook again with lid.

4.In another pan,add  1 cup of grated coconut n fry it in low flame.Saute it nicely until the coconut  becomes brown in colour.Don't burn it with high flame.When it( fried coconut) cools grind the coconut in a mixxie or food processor and make a good paste of it with lit water.[[[[If you want more hot spicy chicken,fry dry red chillies along with coconut and grind.]]]]

5.Add this coconut paste to the cooked chicken gravy and mix.Cook for 5 minutes and switch off the flame.Serve warm with bread varieties or rice.
