Grilled fish, Pomfret(Avoli) Meen Pollichathu in Kerala style
Here comes the recipe for my big hit in FACEBOOK Grilled Fish.

Grilled Fish

For this you can use any good  fish having nice flesh and hard bones.Recipe is simple and we all know that.Only thing we need extra is a good conventional oven or cooking range.

Ingredients needed

  • Fish - 1 ( i used Pomfret,Avoli) but Pearl spot(Kareemeen) is the best.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 Tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Fish masala - 1.5 Tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomato -1
  • Lime - 1

Method

1.Clean fish and make small cuts on both sides of the fish, same as we do for fish fry.
2.Make a masala paste with above ingredients with little water or lemon juice.
3.Apply this masala to the cleaned fish.Coat the fish entirely both outside and inside evenly.
4.Transfer the marinated fish into a baking dish and keep this in a conventional oven at 350 deg F for 45 - 60 minutes.
5.After 30 minutes of cooking invert the fish for nice grilling on both sides.
6.At the end,for the last 5 minutes broil the fish(convert the nobe of the oven to broil from 350 deg)
7.After broiling switch off the oven and keep the grilled fish in oven itself for 15 minutes.
8.By this time, fry some thinly cut onions and curry leaves and add this to the top of grilled fish for extra flavor.
9.Garnish fish with Tomatoes,Lime and Onion.

Tips
1.Clean fish nicely without removing head and eyes.
2.Broilling is doing for  good crispy outside.
3.Squeeze lemon juice over entire grilled fish before having, noooo attacking the pavam fish.
4.Grilling time varies according to the type of oven.
5.Save oil and healthy food.

Cook daily for your loved ones.Home food is the Best.

  1. I REALLY LIKED YOUR RECIPE. HAVE YOU TRIED COOKING THE SAME WAY WITH PERSIAN FLAVOURS. IT WOULD BE REALLY HELPFUL IF YOU COULD POST A SEGMENT ON ARABIAN COOKING WITH FISH . :)
