Chakka Ada recipe,Jack fruit Ada,Thani nadan palaharam




Chakka Ada is a popular Kerala snack which can be prepared easily at home.Its best as an evening snack with hot tea on a rainy day.
Ingredients 

  1. Rice Flour : 1cup (roasted)
  2. Boiled Hot Water as required-3/4 cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Cardamon powder : 1/4 tsp
  5. Banana leafs : 4 pieces


For Filling


  1. Grated Coconut : 1 cup
  2. Grated Jaggery : 1/2 cup
  3. Chakka vilayichathe- 1 cup
  4. Salt a pinch


Preparation

1.Mix coconut,jaggery,cardamom powder with your hands  until well combined and soft.
2. Make a dough like chapathi dough, by adding hot water and salt.Do not add too much water. Dough should be like the consistency of Idiappam dough.
3.Spread half tsp of oil all over the leaf with the fingers.
4. Place lemon size dough in the center of the leaf, flatten it with finger and spread the filling on it.
5. Fold the leaf in half and seal the ends of the leaf  or leave as such by folding.
6. Place the adas in a steamer/idly cooker and steam it for 15 minutes. Chakka Ada is ready.


Tips

  • Instead of chakka halwa you can add chopped riped jack fruit into the coconut jaggery filling.
