Marble Cake

Cake,we used to make or buy for all birthdays and other occasions.Cakes have no limit and can use at any time for even  kids to older ones.Different varieties of cakes are available like Chocolate,Icing,decorative fondant etc etc.I'm going to share a recipe for preparing Marble cake,which  can be used along with tea or coffee as snack.Marble cake got its name from the typical marble like patterns formed with chocolate and vanilla batter.Here is the simple recipe for making a yummy marble cake.

                                                          Marble Cake

1.All purpose flour or Maida - 1.5 cups
2.Butter - 3/4 cup
3.Granulated/Powdered Sugar - 1.5 cups
4.Eggs - 3
5.Baking powder- 1 tsp
6.Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
7.Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
8.Chocolate/Cocoa powder - 1/4 cup

1.Measure the flour using a measuring cup and add this to a mixing bowl.
2.Add 1 tsp Baking powder and 1/2 tsp Baking soda to the measured flour and sift the dry powders using a fine seive in order to mix all the dry ingredients properly.
3.Take another bowl and add 3/4 cup of butter(melted) and 1.5 cups of  powdered sugar.Mix sugar and butter using a whisk or hand mixer.
4.Add eggs 1 by 1(1 at a time) to the sugar - butter mixture and mix properly.
5.When all the eggs are mixed thoroughly add 1 tsp of Vanilla extract and mix using a whisk.
6.When the liquid ingredients are mixed properly,add the measured  dry powders to the egg-butter-sugar mixture.
7.Mix the powder slowly and carefully to form a batter.Don't mix too much.
8.Transfer half of this prepared vanilla batter to another bowl and add 1/4 cup Cocoa/Chocolate powder.Mix the cocoa powder slowly in order to form Chocolate batter.
9.Now Preheat the oven to 300 to 350 Degree F for 5 - 10 minutes.
10.Grease(apply butter)to an Oven safe dish(Round or Square in shape about 8 - 9 inch size). Also apply butter using a brush evenly to the sides of the dish.Add some all purpose flour or maida to the greased dish and make it even.Remove the excess dust by  tilting the dish.
11.Add the prepared vanilla batter first to the dish and spread it evenly with a spatula or knife.
12.Then add the Cocoa or chocolate batter  unevenly above the vanilla batter.Spread the cocoa/chocolate batter with a spatula or knife,depends on the shape of the baking dish.I did a square pattern with chocolate batter.Spread the batter equally to all corners.
13.Transfer the batter dish to the preheated oven and bake the cake for at least 45 minutes at 300-350 Degree F.
14.After 45 minutes,use a toothpick to check whether the cake is done.If the tooth pick comes out clean it means the cake is well baked.Try to insert the tooth pick at  the center of the cake,because center portion needs more time to bake.
15.Enjoy the cake with tea or coffee or even you can use with ice creams.

1.Measure the dry powders correctly,its the key point of making a good cake.
2.Add and whisk eggs(one at a time).You can add  grated dried orange peels into the egg mixture in order to avoid the smell of eggs even after baking.Try to keep some orange peels in a bowl.So that you can use it effectively.Also instead of orange,try with lemon skin.Lemon also works best for smell.
3.Pre heat the oven when all batter is ready.No need to pre heat at the beginning before you start.So after pouring the batter to the dish,you can place it.
4.After adding the dry powders to the egg-butter-sugar mixture,mix everything very gently and softly and do not mix for long time.
5.After pouring the batter to the dish completely,try to tilt the dish to all the four sides,to avoid and reduce the formation of air bubbles/space in the batter.This will help to avoid the breakage of cake at the center when it is done.
6.Instead of cocoa or chocolate powder you can use instant coffee powder for making cocoa batter.
